Article 1 - Scope

These Terms and Conditions of Sale apply to all orders placed on montelli-chess.com by customers located in the United Kingdom.

The business entity is RIFAI Samy EI, operating under the Montelli Chess brand, located at 60 Rue François 1er, 75008 Paris, France, with SIRET 990 761 884 00024. The company does not register for French VAT purposes, in accordance with Article 293B of the French General Tax Code.

Article 2 - Products offered for sale

Products offered for sale on montelli-chess.com include wooden chess sets, chess boards, chess pieces, folding and magnetic travel sets, digital chess clocks, chess accessories and personalised engraving.

Each product page displays key details including title, images, variant choices, specifications and pricing. Customers should review this information before purchasing.

Wood is a natural material. Grain, tone and figure vary from one item to the next, and a board or set may differ slightly in colour from the photographs shown on the website. This variation is a characteristic of the material and is not a defect.

Article 3 - Prices

Pricing appears in British pounds sterling (GBP) for UK customers. The price displayed before checkout is the applicable product price for the selected product and variant.

Shipping to UK addresses is free of charge. All UK import duties and taxes are included in the price. The total amount charged by Montelli Chess is shown at checkout before the customer confirms the order.

Article 4 - Orders

Customers complete purchases by selecting products, reviewing their cart and finishing the Shopify checkout. Before payment confirmation, order details including items, quantities, delivery information and total cost are displayed for review.

An order is confirmed when Montelli Chess sends an order confirmation email and payment has been accepted or authorised.

Article 5 - Payment

The full price is payable at the time the order is placed. Checkout displays available payment methods.

Montelli Chess does not store full payment card details. Payment information is processed by Shopify and the relevant payment providers.

Article 6 - Delivery

Montelli Chess delivers to the United Kingdom only. Orders are prepared and dispatched within 1 to 2 business days after order confirmation, excluding weekends and public holidays.

The estimated transit time is 4 to 5 business days after dispatch. The total estimated delivery time is 5 to 7 business days from order confirmation.

Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by courier delays, customs processing, incorrect delivery information, high-demand periods, force majeure or circumstances outside Montelli Chess’s reasonable control.

Article 7 - Cancellation and returns

The customer has 30 days from the day they receive the product to exercise their right of cancellation. This is longer than the 14-day minimum required by law.

The customer must notify Montelli Chess by email at contact@montelli-chess.com with a clear statement confirming that they wish to cancel their order. The customer must return the product within 14 days after notifying Montelli Chess of the cancellation.

Returned items should remain in original condition, be complete, undamaged, clean and include all accessories, components, documentation and original packaging when feasible.

Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility, except where the product is faulty, damaged on delivery or incorrect.

Refunds are processed within 14 days from the day Montelli Chess receives the returned product or receives proof that the product has been sent back.

Article 8 - Damaged goods or product issues

For faulty, damaged or incorrect items, customers should contact Montelli Chess at contact@montelli-chess.com with the order number, a description of the issue and photographs where applicable.

Montelli Chess may offer replacement parts, repair, replacement, return or refund depending on the nature of the issue. For returns requested by Montelli Chess, reasonable return postage is covered or return instructions are provided.

Article 9 - Personal data

Customer information collected is necessary for order processing, payment handling, delivery, returns administration, refunds and support services. Additional information appears in the Privacy Policy.

Article 10 - Governing law

These Terms are governed by French law, without depriving customers located in the United Kingdom of any mandatory consumer protections applicable under their local law.
